Pieter Reed (Owner) and I last year made the decision to make a major investment in Creative Elegance by showcasing a gallery of amazingly designed collections by in this amazing product line after showing only a few pieces from their various collections over the past 13 years. Their designs have always been quite architectural and of the most select/premium materials and year after year we are both most impressed with the new designs they add to their product line-up. Bridges Dining Collection

The “Hydra Table” first appeared in Manhattan’s Soho district in 1996. Tired of hunching over work and meals at the coffee table in his small NY apartment, inventor/designer and President, Gary Gianakis sought to satisfy necessity by creating a table that could change in many ways. Made out of chrome and glass, he named it Hydra because it employs a hydraulic pump. The Hydra Table adjusts in height, spins, locks into position and rolls. Hydra is a table that turns sitting at the table into an event. Easy to assemble and handcrafted to order, the Hydra Table is the perfect companion. Previewed at the 1996 Interplan show in New York, Hydra caught the attention of furniture industry veterans and several publications including The Wall Street Journal, which wrote: The Hydra Table is really very clever. At a worldwide competition in Los Angeles, 1997 the Hydra Table won the Adex Award for Design Excellence. Bernie Abramson of Vogue Furniture, MN says: Best Product in the country, I can’t get them fast enough. More Hydra products such as the Hydra TV Stand and the Hydra Bar Table are continuous with the impetus of the original Hydra Table relying on hydraulic mechanism.

With just a few easy pumps of the foot lever the Hydra Table adjusts from coffee table height to dining height; or anywhere in between. Hydra Tables don’t just rise and lower they also spin and can lock into position. Spin over your lap for the perfect laptop work desk. If you choose to have wheels, then it will roll into any position you please. With the optional extension the height adjustment range is 21 inches to 29 inches.

The original “Hydra Table” has a standard height adjustment range of 17”-25″. Half-inch thick oval or circular glass tops raise and lower easily. Available in chrome or a distinctive hand brushed chrome finish. The base can also have a black texture finish with a grey ring. Glass shapes can be customized. Tops can also be made with Granite or DuPont Corian.

The “Hydra TV” stand will support most 27” television sets with room underneath for a VCR, DVD or DVR player. And yes, it can be used for a computer too. The glass top starts at 26” high rising to 34”. The stable five point base comes with five casters which allow the stand to be mobile, two are locking.

The “Hydra Bar” tables adjustability range start at 30” rising to 38”. Perfect with stools or as a standing table. 36” diameter is the maximum size we recommend.

The “Strata” features a natural birds-eye wood finish which brings some warmth to the functionality that’s made the “Hydra Table” so popular. With an elegant reverse-beveled 26” x 48” glass top, it has a standard range of 18”-26”.

Of course it raises and lowers easily with a simple push on the foot lever.

The “Palladium” is similar in design to the “Strata” Table. This metal laminated base comes in our distinctive “hand brushed” finish. The base measures 22” square and it can be topped with 36” or 42” square beveled ½” thick glass top. Custom sizes available.

• High-efficiency lighting reduces wattage and heat output saving on cooling costs.
• Using computer-controlled Energy Star motors during manufacturing cuts down waste of raw material, and energy.

Controlling Pollution from the Factory to the Home

• Low VOC and Formaldehyde Free Finish products improve indoor air quality in the factory and then in the home.  Creative Elegance plans to be Emission Free as soon as possible.  Currently all of their wood products have Low Formaldehyde emissions.  Low enough to be ahead of the California 2012 emissions requirements.  These are the most stringent in the country.
• An excellent dust collection system also keeps all particulate exhaust from the facilities from the outside environment and out of the storm water runoff.  Inside, dust-free zones help keep finishes smooth as well as keeping their employees’ lungs free of wood particulate.

Rosetta and Flamenco

One of the greatest new features is our new blog which you hopefully will find informational and fun. Learn more about design trends, news and events from around the Pearl as well as the interior design/furniture industry from our experienced and knowledgeable designers and staff. As this is my first attempt at “blogging” bear with me – I promise it shall improve with more practice.

So, we’re all hyper-aware about the state of our economy and the fact that Americans now have to make more conscientious decisions with our purchases and learning to exercise better restraint fiscally. My feeling on this, particularly where our homes are concerned, is basically that while financial market investments are in question, it should encourage us to invest in ourselves, personally.\

The purpose of this blog is an attempt to change focus from doom and gloom to looking upon these times as an opportunity. Better times are ahead – We just need to have the confidence in believing so. Perhaps with a change in mindset, this period won’t seem quite so horrible. Although, during these times, our homes increasingly become our safe-havens – The place where we can escape it all – by sitting in our favorite chair reading a great book, or simply sipping a glass of wine while merely looking out at our gardens. During such economic times, when we’re all trying to pinch pennies, I find entertaining close friends and family in our homes a great cost-saving option. With this increased time in our home, this should invite a new focus on the comfort and level of enjoyment we achieve there. I think it’s a great time to perhaps pick out our “favorite room” and think of reasons why we find it our most comfortable and enjoyable place to hang out in. For example, many find their bedrooms a favorite place in the house as that is where we re-energize our bodies, spend the most intimate time with our significant others among a few.
