Cleanness of line and simplicity of design has allowed the quality of our work and the precision of our craft to shine through. It has afforded us the opportunity to flourish against the backdrop of “me too” copycats and designs contrived in spirit and execution. Our ability to customize pieces to meet the needs of clients is another example of the strong sense of service and support we bring to our relationships. This is something you won’t find with products manufactured in China or other foreign countries” (www.creativeelegance.com)

Pieter Reed (Owner) and I last year made the decision to make a major investment in Creative Elegance by showcasing a gallery of amazingly designed collections by in this amazing product line after showing only a few pieces from their various collections over the past 13 years. Their designs have always been quite architectural and of the most select/premium materials and year after year we are both most impressed with the new designs they add to their product line-up. A great example of this is the new dresser/vanity (or desk) combination introduced at the last Las Vegas World Market in February 2009. Talk about form and function – I anticipate a huge response for this piece and am excited that we will be showcasing it in the store beginning the week of April 27th. Either for the master bedroom, student’s bedroom or that spare room that has multiple uses. With many finish options, including introduction of exotic woods, it’s simple to make this piece your own!

About Creative Elegance

Creative Elegance has been manufacturing fine furniture since 1980. Started as a two man shop, brothers Aaron and Mark Popel built custom pieces for their father and grandfather’s retail store. From these humble beginnings, the company has grown and prospered as a specialist in high styled contemporary case goods. During this journey, the driving philosophy has always been the same: Quality, Integrity, Style and Service. These were the fundamentals taught and practiced during three generations of family business. They continue to be our daily commitment to employees, customers and vendors alike.

Though modest on the scale of today’s giant manufacturer/importers from overseas, Creative Elegance has always maintained an aggressive pursuit of high quality through advanced technology. From the use of computer generated optimizing reports for material consumption to CNC (computer numerically controlled) saws and machine centers, the company searches internationally for the finest machinery available.

While we have gone all over the world for top equipment and materials, we haven’t run away from our responsibility here at home with regards to providing quality jobs and an environment we are happy to live in. California’s regulations pertaining to worker safety and air pollution are some of the toughest in the world. Many companies have fled the state and country to avoid these issues. Creative Elegance complies with these issues because it is the right thing to do! With such an amazing philosophy and heightened awareness of social and economic responsibility, this is the perfect collection for the NorthWest contemporary home.

We invite you to stop into PH Reed to experience the amazing quality, options and design savvy exhibited in this amazing furniture manufacturer. We have their full catalogue, along with wood samples and fabric samples to begin creating your new bedroom, dining, home office or living grouping (occasional/storage and entertainment) Our staff of interior design consultants are here to assist you along the way! I would also invite you to check out their website (www.creativeelegance.com ) to get a better idea of all they have to offer, notes on their philosophy etc.

An emerging term heard around the Home Furnishings Community is Sustainability. What does this mean, how is it accomplished, and how is it affecting the look, feel, and price of the finished products? PH Reed has been exploring the policies and procedures with many of our vendors and found a few who best demonstrate sustainability.

We are proud of our long term relationship with Creative Elegance. They are a contemporary furniture manufacturing company based in Southern California. Privately owned and operated for 28 years, they are deeply concerned with creating and keeping jobs in within the community. All aspects of product design, from purchase of raw materials and manufacturing, to delivery and installation they are continually working to insure and maintain high quality standards.

Their clean contemporary designs for the home and office use many old world craftsmanship techniques and details, rich wood veneers, and a mix of solid, and/or manufactured wood framing. Many of the increased costs of production (at home / not Asia) have been off-set by careful planning for the future, as well as buying and using less, and wasting fewer raw materials. They are leading the way in lowering their carbon footprint and here are some of the specific areas in which they are excelling.

Conservation is Key

Most shipping/packaging material is made of recycled wood pulp.

Wood waste and all regular trash is sorted and recycled every day. Including bottles, cans and shipping pallets. Also light bulbs and old computer parts sent to facilities that can re-use or recycle them

All paint and solvents are recycled and used for fuel.

High-efficiency lighting reduces wattage and heat output saving on cooling costs.

Using computer-controlled Energy Star motors during manufacturing cuts down waste of raw material, and energy.

Controlling Pollution from the Factory to the Home

Low VOC and Formaldehyde Free Finish products improve indoor air quality in the factory and then in the home. Creative Elegance plans to be Emission Free as soon as possible. Currently all of their wood products have Low Formaldehyde emissions. Low enough to be ahead of the California 2012 emissions requirements. These are the most stringent in the country.

An excellent dust collection system also keeps all particulate exhaust from the facilities from the outside environment and out of the storm water runoff. Inside, dust-free zones help keep finishes smooth as well as keeping their employees’ lungs free of wood particulate.

We at PH Reed look to companies like Creative Elegance for inspiration and use their policies as a guide for out own environmental policies and we look forward to bringing additional environmentally conscience vendors into our store. When visiting us, please feel free to ask for additional details about Creative Elegance and The Sustainable Furniture Council. We will be glad to share with you all the information we have.
